A little inspiration. A lot of “that’s perfect.”

THE GIFT JOURNAL · Thoughtful gifting

What to get the person who has everything

Start with the way they spend their time, rather than the things they already own.

The most useful clue is often something they do every day. The morning coffee. The hour spent in the garden. The book they carry everywhere. A gift that fits an existing pleasure can feel more personal than something grand.

Notice the small rituals

A favourite mug with a chipped handle might suggest a beautiful replacement. Someone who makes tea for everybody could enjoy a selection of blends to try. Look for the tiny moments they already care about.

Give them a reason to make time

A puzzle becomes a better gift with an invitation to do it together. A cookbook can come with a promise to cook the first recipe. The thing is a starting point; the time you give it can be the part they remember.

Make something ordinary feel considered

Write a note explaining why you chose it. “This made me think of your Sunday mornings” says more than a generic gift message. Thoughtfulness comes from paying attention, not from stretching a budget.

Browse gifts for grown-ups, or search by an interest they already love.
